Gown Vs Saree - Cannes 2010

It's summer time in Europe. It's that time of the year when the Cannes Film Festival makes news.

It is one of the most respected and prestigious film festivals across the world.

It is a platform for film makers to showcase their work of art. It is a stage for actors and actresses across the world to exhibit their talents. And finally, it is an opportunity for brands to make their mark.

All of this drives several Indian stars to Cannes.

This year, two Indian actresses have made a mark and made news waves across India and the World.

Aishwarya Rai, the ex Miss World, represented L'Oreal at the Cannes film festival.

She looked pretty in a gown.

But if she looked pretty, then Deepika Padukone looked stunning - or as a website said "Insanely Hot". And she was wearing the Indian Ensemble - Saree.

Deepika represented Chivas Regal at the Cannes Film Festival.

Catch a look at her pictures below.

Undoubtedly, both of them must have made a huge impression.

People in India thought Deepika scored over Aishwarya.

What do you think?

This is what Deepika had to say about her walk down the red carpet at Cannes.

“When I started modeling, I promised myself that whenever I attend an international event, I’d wear a Saree and not western clothes. I get enough opportunities at home to wear western clothes. When I’m seen at an international event I’d rather be fully Indian.”

  1. I liked ash more this time around...as far as wearing western clothes is concerned i dont understand y ppl are after her life for this. She is there as part of L'oreal dreamteam and its L'oreal who'll decide what her makeup / dress shud b like...Moreover i do not think wearing a saree makes one more an indian than the one who chooses not to wear one :)..
